Page 1 of 3 Convertigo Enterprise Mashup Server general description
A 'mashup' is a website, or more usually a web-based application, comprised of two or more components from different sources, but presented to the user as a single, seamless 'experience' or application. Corporate developers may well combine Web service elements from a range of vendor solutions with bespoke, in-house line-of-business applications to present business users with their very own "Enterprise Mashups”.
Unfortunately, although these sources can be found in the enterprise as modern Web Services or well defined APIs, lots of these application sources are available only as “pre WEB 2.0’” technologies :
- Many enterprise business applications still run on legacy systems such as IBM Mainframes, iSeries, UNIX servers, presenting to the user “green screen” user interfaces.
- In house development is done as WEB 1.0 applications (Static HTML web sites, Dynamic ASP/JSP/PHP/ASPX/CF applications)
- External applications as public yellow pages, google map, credit management, online ordering systems, e-government usually available on the Internet only as HTML web applications.
- Even, modern ERPs and CRMs can only provide HTML web interfaces
This is why Convertigo Enterprise Mashup Server (EMS) is the complete solution to enable corporate developers to build ‘Mashup applications’ presented to their business users from existing enterprise applications sources, even when these sources are not SOA or WEB2.0 enabled
